Statement
TONYE Antoine Joseph Junior is the responsible of IP address and routing in CAMEROON TELECOMMUNICATIONS (CAMTEL). IT Engineer Information System.
Since his appointment to CAMTEL’s LIR in 2000, he has participated with the staff of CAMTEL in bringing a number of significant technical changes within the Organization.
Tonye's long experience with AfriNIC,s policies has helped CAMTEL to grow into a better governance of the internet by efficient management of IP addresses and routing. His 14 years of experience in Information and Communications Technologies in CAMTEL has also helped him obtain a wide range of skills and capacity which are of benefit to CAMTEL and can be of benefit to AfriNiC member community as a whole.
He intends to better provide support to the CEO and staff of the organization in fulfilling the mandate and objectives of the organization. His earnest wish that he be allowed to serve the community in capacity as Board member from the Central African region.
Tonye has played a key role in CAMTEL over the past 14 years in the following positions:
- 2000 - 2005: IP Addresses and routing Manager (LIR)
- 2005 - 2009: Networks Manager
- 2009 - 2012: Network Control Department
- 2012 - 2014: ICT customer relationship AfriNIC & RIPE NCC

Question 1
If i am elected, what do i hope to personally accomplish?
I hope first to get my organization (Cameroon Télécommunications) to practicaly be involved and more present in the AfriNIC debates that are shaping the future of an open and decentralized Internet platform, by participating yearly to AfriNIC's meetings and events, taking part in support projects, contributing to the evolution of AfriNIC.
I will fucused my efforts by bringing together all the stakeholders the the society, to accelerate the deployment of Internet eXchnage Point (IXP) in Cameroon.
Question 2
What Business Management and Leadership skills will you bring to AFRINIC?
Considering the long and solid experience of the CEO in the Business Management an Leadership, and considering the qualification of the staff of AfriNIC; as an elected member of the Board of Directors, i will play a key role in the continuity by providing a better support to the CEO and staff of the organisation in fullfiling the mandate and objectives of the organization.
